Stonecrest Homes Featured in Builder Magazine’s 2012 Business Trends

Builder Magazine released their “what this year’s business trends forecast for 2012” this month and Stonecrest Homes received an honorable mention for being a startup builder. According to the magazine, startup builders will begin to trend upwards in 2012  “as long as there are entrepreneurs who think they have a better mousetrap.”

The article describes that Stonecrest has “achieved name recognition [quickly] by virtue of its connection with an already established local active-adult builder”. Jim Chapman, co-owner of Stonecrest Homes with Charles Heiser, Jr., also owns Jim Chapman Communities, “an established active-adult building company that’s among the market’s 10 largest builders.”

Stonecrest has seen much success since its inception by “[outsourcing] most of its non-construction functions and [letting] technology drive the rest”. Recently, StonecrestHomesGA.com, won an award for best builder website at the GAHBA Obie Awards.

Each year the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s Sales and Marketing Council recognizes outstanding achievement in building, sales and marketing for the North Georgia real estate industry. Stonecrest Homes Atlanta, Inc. received the Gold Obie Award for Best Website for a Builder.

Betsy Sheppard Named GAHBA Council Chair of the Year

Betsy L. Sheppard of Gilbert & Sheppard Group was named the 2010 Council Chair of the Year by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. Betsy currently serves as chair of the Atlanta 50+ Housing Council where she oversees all the council’s activities, its budget and helps promote council events.

Betsy has more than 28 years of real estate marketing and advertising experience.  Her and her company have received several OBIE Awards and national awards recognizing her for her marketing expertise.

First Annual 50 Plus University Day

As Vice Chair and rising 2011 Chairman of the Board of the Atlanta 50 Plus Housing Council of the Greater Atlanta Homebuilders Association, Jim Chapman, Co-Founder and CFO of Stonecrest Homes, presented to the Board in late Spring of 2010 the idea of the Council hosting a day-long event. The event would an opportunity for members of the Council and Board to educate other members and non-members of the GAHBA as to the merits of the 50 Plus housing market. Out of these discussions was born the idea of the  First Annual 50 Plus University Day being held on October 14^th from 8 am to 5 pm at the Cobb Galleria.

Jim Chapman Asked To Speak At Active Adult Conference

Jim Chapman, Co-Founder and CFO of Stonecrest Homes, has been asked to speak at the National Active Retirement Association’s 11^th Annual Business Conference as a regional expert on active adult development, design and building. 

This will be the second time Mr. Chapman has been a featured speaker at this conference which has been dubbed the “Power Tools Conference;” and is the place to learn about and exchange ideas regarding the fastest growing segment of the consumer housing market – 55 Plus.  His focus will be on the successful design and development of active adult housing product.

Stonecrest Homes is currently pursuing three different active adult building opportunities in the greater Atlanta area: one in Gwinnett county, one in Henry county and one in Houston county.
